1. Golden Gate Bridge

2. Fisherman's Wharf San Francisco

Part of any visit to San Francisco is a stroll through the waterfront district of Fisherman's Wharf. There, a number of piers line the waterfront, including the popular Pier 39, which features a carnival, an aquarium, and inviting waterfront restaurants. Pier 39 is also home to a colony of several hundred sea lions, which you can see year-round.

3. Alcatraz

The former prison island of Alcatraz in San Francisco Bay is another landmark of the coastal city. The old fort on the island housed a prison from 1861 to 1963 that became one of the most notorious in the world. Criminals like George "Machine Gun" Kelly or Al Capone have served their sentences there. Today the island and the prison can be visited. From there you have a wonderful view of San Francisco.
