What to See During Your Honolulu Vacation?
1. Waikiki Beach
In the Waikiki district, the legendary Waikiki Beach stretches about three and a half miles along the coast. Lined with palm trees, it is a wonderful place to sunbathe and swim during your trip to Honolulu. The beach is also considered a popular spot for surfing and is a point of attraction for those looking to get into Honolulu's nightlife.
2. Iolani palace
Located in the Capital Historic District in Downtown Honolulu, Iolani Palace served as the residence of the Hawaiian monarchy. Built from 1879 to 1882, the palace was the official residence of the last two monarchs of the Hawaiian Kingdom until 1893. Today, Iolani Palace is open to the public and private events, such as weddings, are also held at the property.
3 China Town
Not far from Waikiki, on the western part of the financial district is the China Town neighborhood. The neighborhood is characterized by numerous traditional Asian restaurants, trendy bars and a diverse arts and culture scene. In addition to galleries, you will also find the Hawaii Theater Center, built in the Art Deco style. Visit the colorful markets in China Town, such as Maunakea Marketplace or Oahu Market. Sample the exotic fruits and browse the wide selection of antiques.
4. Diamond Head
Diamonds Head is a 761-feet high tufa formation. The impressive crater is believed to have been formed by an eruption 300,000 years ago. Because of its shape, which resembles the dorsal fin of a tuna, Hawaiians call it Lēʻahi (forehead of the tuna). The mountain is named Diamond Head because the Western explorers who visited Oahu in the 17th century thought the calcite crystals in the rock were diamonds. A hiking trail leads up to the rim of the crater. From here, you can enjoy spectacular views of Honolulu and the Pacific Ocean.
