Northern Spain Tour - Group

The first stop on your Northern Spain Tour is the peaceful coastal town of Cadaqués, the most easterly spot in Spain. After a tour of Salvador Dalí Museum-House led by your experienced tour leader, you’ll head to Girona, a picturesque town on the banks of the River Onyar. Explore the medieval architecture of the city and visit the ruins of the ancient Roman fortress, Força Vella. Today, your guide and driver will take the scenic route to Cardona, soaking in the sights along the way. First up is the stunning village is Siurana and a scrumptious cheese tasting at a local farm - with spectacular views. Next up is Besalú, a medieval village where a 12th-century Romanesque bridge makes for a perfect photo op. Eventually, you’ll reach Cardona, where you’ll embark on a guided tour through the walled fortress with its dramatic castle. You’ll end the day with a group meal included in your tour package. 

No trip to the Aragon region is complete without a visit to Salt Mountain. You’ll take a subterranean tour through the salt mines, and learn about the crystal-like mineral deposits. In the afternoon, you’ll return to daylight and the green vineyards of Bodega SOMMOS winery. Explore the hyper-modern architecture of the onsite restaurant where you’ll enjoy a wine tasting. You’ll spend the night in the beautiful town of Boltaña.

Today you’ll tour Navarre, the far north province bordering France. There’s no shortage of historical sites to discover from the medieval fortress of Jaca to the Monastery of Leyre—one of the oldest in Spain. You will also go on a tour of the spectacular Royal Palace of Olite, built by Carlos III. This hilltop castle feels more like a town, allow yourself plenty of time to explore this sprawling gothic landmark. Next up on your Northern Spain Tour is the exciting city of Pamplona - the capital of Navarre. Be sure to visit the city’s impressive cathedral and Plaza del Castillo. After lunch, you’ll head to Laguardia, and commence a walking tour of the medieval fortress walls of the city’s old quarter.

Next up on your Northern Spain Tour, you’ll head to the wineries of La Rioja where a wine tasting session and tapas await. Talk to the local vintners and learn about the regional varietals and winemaking techniques. 

Carry on down the coast towards the golden beaches of San Sebastián—we recommend Playa de la Concha, where the surf is very reliable. Head into town to see some spectacular art nouveau architecture and find a restaurant to enjoy the city’s culinary reputation first-hand. You’re bound to fall in love with San Sebastián. Drive on to Hondarribia, the final stop on the tour. It’s a coastal city on the French border - try and catch the sunset at Mount Igueldo Mirador along the way.
