The Grotte di Nettuno is a dripstone cave near Alghero. Over 654 steps you have to go down on a staircase in the almost vertical steep wall, the Escala del Cabirol, to visit the grotto. If you don't want to go climbing, come by boat!
Su Nuraxi de Barùmini
The archaeological site of Su Nuraxi, dating from the 12th century BC, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. On a hill there are prehistoric towers from the Bonnanaro culture and the following Nuragic culture. The function of the megalithic buildings is still disputed today. Whether they served as temples, dwellings, tombs or fortresses is still unclear.
Nora
The ruins of Nora near Pula date back to the 9th century B.C. Thus Nora is, together with Bosa, probably the oldest town on the island. Nora was founded by the Phoenicians and later inhabited by the Punic and Romans. Today you can see mainly the remains from the Roman period. Together with a guide you can visit the remains of the beautiful mosaics, temples, villas, thermal baths and the theatre.
Domus de Janas
The Domus de Janas, the so-called fairy houses, are burial chambers that date back to around 3000 to 4000 BC.
