1. Cork City Gaol
The Cork City Gaol is one of Cork’s premier tourist attractions. This castle-like prison is reachable on foot from the city center in around twenty minutes. After opening in 1824, both male and female prisoners were housed here. With life-size wax figures, sound effects and an informative exhibition, visitors are given a deep insight into the conditions at that time and the life of the prisoners. 2. English Market
The Old English Market in Cork is a must-see attraction for foodies. Here, you will find delectable regional products such as handmade cheese, chocolate, or locally-caught fish. From the café on the top floor, you have a good view of the hustle and bustle while enjoying traditional dishes. On sunny days, opt for takeout and take your food to Bishop Lucey Park for some al fresco dining. Architecture lovers will love the market’s artfully decorated vaulted ceiling that spans the hall.

4. Crawford Art Gallery
This art gallery is located in the center of Cork and awaits you with an excellent collection of 4,000 works from the 17th century through to the contemporary day. On display here are paintings and sculptures, as well as contemporary video installations by Sir John Lavery, Jack B. Yeats and Nathaniel Hone, as well as an exhibition space entirely dedicated to Irish artists from 1886 to 1978. The center of the collection is a series of casts of Greek and Roman sculptures that were brought to Cork from the Vatican Museum in Rome in 1818. Entry is free.
5. University College Cork
The UCC campus was founded in 1845 as one of three "Queen's Colleges" - the other two universities are in Galway and Belfast.
