If you’re interested in history, then this seven-day Paris and Normandy tour is perfect for you. Start your trip in the heart of Paris, with a guided-tour that hits all of the city’s monuments, from the Arc de Triomphe to Montmartre. Next, head to Normandy, where WWII landmarks meet the quaint fairytale charm of Mont-Saint-Michel. End your trip in one of the most majestic palaces in Europe, Versailles - the perfect place to appreciate the grandeur of historical France. With Tourlane, you’re able to book flights, transfers, accommodations, and guides - all in one place!
1. Paris
Your tour starts in Paris, a city where every street is filled with history. You Tourlane Travel Expert will organize a private tour for you with an English-speaking driving guide. Enjoy the City of Light’s classic monuments, including the Eiffel Tower, Sacré-Coeur de Montmartre, and Le Louvre. You’ll have three nights in Paris to lose yourself in the city’s enchanting streets, but that doesn’t mean you should skip out on the city’s less-known historical gems: Les Catacombes, which hold the remains of more than six million people, is one of our top recommendations.
2. Versailles
Just outside Paris is the magical city of Versailles. Enjoy a private guided tour of the Palace of Versailles, where the French monarchy once lived. You’ll see the extraordinary King's State Apartments, with seven rooms each dedicated to a different god (Apollo, Mars, Mercy, and Venus among them), and the Queen's Grand Apartments, mirroring those of the king. Lose yourself in the Palace Gardens, which cover 800 hectares of pristine green land, and don’t miss out on the water shows in the early evening.
3. Bayeux & Normandy Tour
Next, you’ll take a private transfer north to Normandy. Start with a private guided Normandy WWII Landing Beaches Tour, where you’ll learn about the famous sites where American troops landed on D-Day, and see the sweeping coastline that’s been memorialized in countless war movies. Climb the Pointe du Hoc promontory, the lookout that proved a decisive victory for Allied forces during the invasion. You will be staying for three nights in the medieval town of Bayeaux, home to an elegant gothic cathedral, beautiful cobbled streets, and world-class restaurants.
4. Mont St. Michel
Also included in your Normandy tour is a visit to the truly spectacular Mont-Saint-Michel, accompanied with your own English-speaking driving guide. During your private tour, you’ll discover a unique island commune on the north coast of Normandy that is packed with cobblestone streets and wonderful bistros. After this, it’s back to the French capital for your return flight home after an unforgettable Paris and Normandy tour.
