Things to Do on Your French Riviera Vacation

    1. Nice

Start your French Riviera vacation in Nice, the largest city on the Côte d'Azur. Originally founded by the Greeks, Nice has since become a popular destination for artists. If you’re interested in art, be sure to visit the Musée Matisse which showcases Henri Matisse’s work - an old resident of Nice and one of the most important artists of the 20th century. Nice’s old town is also well worth exploring - it’s the perfect place to hop from café to café, or to sit down at a top-rated restaurant. Speak to your Tourlane Travel Expert for insider tips.

    2. Cannes

Famous the world over for its prestigious film festival, Cannes is an upmarket beach destination that woos visitors with its extensive beaches, upmarket boutiques, and endless people watching opportunities. You’ll be dazzled as you stroll along the Promenade de la Croisette, which fronts the Meditteranean and hosts the annual film festival. Cannes is also popular with art enthusiasts - the Musée de la Castre is housed in a medieval fortress and boasts an impressive range of 19th century works. For film buffs who wish to visit while the festival is on: it takes place in May annually.

    3. Antibes

If you’re interested in literature, then Antibes is a great destination for you. Back in 1926, it was here that F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote Tender is the Night in what is now a popular hotel. The town is another natural stop for art lovers with its Musée Picasso, the first museum in the world to be dedicated to the artist and where he actually lived back in 1946. Those interested in history should head to Antibes’ Fort Carré, a 16th century fort where Napoleon Bonaparte was once imprisoned.

    4. Monaco

Nestled in between Nice and the Italian border, Monaco is a tiny sovereign city state located on the French Riviera. If you’re interested in automobile racing, then a visit to this racing mecca is a must: the Monaco Grand Prix is widely considered to be the most prestigious race in the world. Depending on your tastes, consider visiting other popular attractions in Monaco - which include its famous casino as well as a maritime museum.  Less
