1. Oxford
Firstly, you’ll be driven to the charming city of Oxford, which is the gateway to the Cotswolds. Oxford is a home to the oldest university in the English-speaking world that dates back to 1096. As you explore the city’s medieval center, you’ll soon see why Oxford is nicknamed the “City of Dreaming Spires.” After a day of exploration alongside an experienced tour guide, you’ll be driven to your hotel in Chipping Campden.
2. Cotswolds: Stratford-upon-Avon
After waking up in the elegant town of Chipping Campden, your tour guide will take you to Stratford-upon-Avon. The town’s most famous resident, William Shakespeare, is the most celebrated English writer of all time. You’ll visit his childhood home and final resting place. Prepare to be moved by stories of his life and examples of his work. After a fascinating day out, you will return to your hotel in Chipping Campden.
3. Cotswolds: Castle Combe
On your way to Bath, you’ll stop in a place nicknamed “the prettiest village in England:” Castle Combe. Famous for and named after its Roman-built baths, Bath is one of England’s most beautiful cities and a worthy UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. Explore its exquisite Georgian streets, cross the famous Pulteney Bridge (England’s answer to Florence’s Ponte Vecchio), and of course, visit the Thermae Bath Spa: home to England’s only public baths that are heated by natural hot springs that lie below.
5. Longleat
On your way back towards London, the first stop on the coach journey will be Longleat House, one of England’s most famous stately homes. Your guide will show you around this majestic building that has a staggering 130 rooms -you’ll be wooed by its classic architecture and impressive interior.
6. Avebury
The final stop on your Cotswolds tour is Avebury, a Neolithic henge monument and stone circle located in WIltshire. You’ll have the opportunity to walk freely within this impressive attraction that is steeped in mystery and remains relatively undiscovered, compared to the more famous Stonehenge circle. After this, you will return to London, where the tour concludes.
