What to Do During Your Indonesia Trip?

    1. Dieng Plateau

The volcanically active Dieng Plateau awaits you in the center of the island of Java at about 6,500 feet above sea level. Besides the majestic volcanoes, you can also look forward to visiting the oldest Hindu temples in Java. After all, the name of the plateau is said to mean "seat of the gods." Don’t miss the sulfur lake, which changes its color depending on the sunlight. At night you should look up to the sky again, because from Dieng you can admire the Milky Way in all its splendor!

    2. Borobudur Temple

The Borobudur Temple is the largest Buddhist temple complex in the world. It was built between 750 and 850 and welcomes you in the middle of rice fields, palm tree alleys and the dense jungle of Java with a very special atmosphere. No wonder that the complex has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991. Before that it was hidden for centuries under volcanic ash and rampant jungle plants. Climb to the top of the building and enjoy a breathtaking view of the surroundings.

    3. Komodo National Park

The impressive Komodo National Park welcomes you between the islands of Sumbawa and Flores. Since 1986 it is part of the UNESCO World Heritage and Biosphere Reserve. On the 29 volcanic islands, whose landscape is characterized by mountain slopes, tropical rain forests, grassland savannahs and untouched white sandy beaches, live about 2,500 Komodo dragons, the largest lizards in the world. Other reptiles as well as countless bird species and mammals such as small deer call the park their home. Explore the main islands with a ranger and experience the last dragons in the wild.

    4. Mount Bromo

Mount Bromo is the youngest crater of the Tengger Volcano Massif on Java and also one of the most active volcanoes on the island. It is surrounded by the Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park, which is home to 137 bird species and mammals such as leopards, Javanese monkeys and marble cats. Especially when illuminated by the light of the rising sun, Mount Bromo offers a breathtaking view. It is best to drive to the viewing platform on Mount Penanjakan early in the morning. From the foot of Mount Bromo there are stairs leading up to the edge of the crater.

    5. Tanjung Puting National

In the south of the island of Borneo, the Tanjung Puting National Park awaits you, which is home to about 6,000 orangutans. Only here and on Sumatra the monkeys still live in the wild. Take a boat trip along the winding river, which will take you through the dense jungle, and keep an eye out for the wildlife. Stop at one of the feeding stations to get a closer look at the orangutans, a very special experience! Less
