Paradise on earth
A Mauritius vacation is like a visit to paradise on earth, which is why Mauritius is at the top of the list of dream destinations for travelers from all over the world. Miles and miles of sandy beaches, palm trees swaying gently in the wind and the turquoise blue sea are just one of many reasons why a visit to the island is an unforgettable experience.
The small islands of Île Plate and Îlot Gabriel, both protected, are located in the north of Mauritius and are surrounded by a common coral reef. Inside the reef, a fascinating underwater world with meter-high corals and colorful fish awaits you. A real paradise for snorkelers!
The Île aux Cerfs, the deer island off the east coast, even tops the Mauritian dream beaches: fine, white sand and shimmering, turquoise water await you here. The uninhabited island can only be reached by boat and invites you not only to swim and snorkel but also to play golf.
The largest of the three national parks in Mauritius is home to a variety of endemic plants and animals. The largest hiking area in the country is also located here. Admire butterflies, macaques, the Mauritius kestrel, and 300 of the 700 plants native to Mauritius while you hike on well-signposted and maintained paths to the Plaine Champagne waterfall, for example.
The wide, kilometer-long beach of Flic en Flac is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful on the island and also flows into a paradisiacal lagoon. On the weekends, many locals come to the beach, and with a little luck, you can attend a spontaneous séga performance or make contacts during beach volleyball.
The mountain Le Morne Brabant almost reminds of a lighthouse and rewards hikers who are not afraid of the ascent with a magnificent view of the beach of Le Morne and the underwater waterfall. Since 2008 the mountain has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The bay of Tamarin is the only place in Mauritius without an offshore reef, which is why the waves are higher than on other beaches. Nevertheless, you can swim without hesitation and, above all, surf wonderfully. The Black River coming from the highlands flows into the sea here and divides the beach into two parts. Less
